CityBus is a safe, reliable, and affordable alternative transportation option for your child.

Students enrolled in grades 5 - 12 are eligible for a CityBus Youth Pass.

Whether it is a ride to school or just for fun, CityBus can get your child where they need to go.

The Youth Pass program will allow your child unlimited access to all CityBus routes for the school year and following summer. Participants must be enrolled in a public, private, or homeschool program in Tippecanoe County and 18 years of age or younger.

Children in 4th grade and below ride free on CityBus with no pass required, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

The parent/guardian and the youth rider must both sign the Enrollment Form and Code of Conduct. Please be aware students who do not follow the code of conduct may have their Youth Pass revoked.

A $2.00 administration fee is required to obtain the pass. The first replacement pass is $10.00, and the second and final replacement pass is $30.00. After the third pass, no additional Youth Passes will be issued, and the child will pay regular fare. Passes may be confiscated by any school corporation or CityBus representative for violating the Code of Conduct.

The coronavirus pandemic has presented some unique challenges with pass distribution. In order to distribute Youth Passes safely, the enrollment process will be modified this school year.

  • #1

    Find your bus stop!

Follow the instructions on the MyCityBus app or directions from your adult. You’ll be looking for a bus stop sign that looks like the picture shown.

  • #2

Look for and read the bus’s head sign.

The head sign provides the bus number and route name. For Route 5, you will see "5 Happy Hollow" displayed. Other buses pass by and even stop at the same bus stop so be sure the bus number matches the bus you’re supposed to get on.

  • #3

Flag the bus to stop by waving or holding your arm up.

At a bus stop, you'll need to flag the bus to stop. Simply wave or hold your arm in the air to signal the driver to pull over. Once the bus is fully stopped, the front doors will open.

  • #4

Enter through the front doors of the bus.

Once the bus has come to a complete stop, the front doors will open. Please remember to always enter the bus through the front doors.

Slide your youth pass on the farebox and then find a seat. You can sit anywhere, but the best place will be in the front so the driver can help you, if needed.

  • #5

Pull the cord when your stop is next to signal the driver to stop.

When your stop is close, you’ll need to pull the cord so the driver will stop. If you aren’t sure where your stop is, just tell the bus driver where you’re going when you get on the bus. He or she will be sure to let you know when to get off the bus.

  • #6

Get off the bus using the back doors.

Only stand up when the bus has come to a full stop and then exit using the back doors. Sometimes they will open automatically or you may have to push. Just be sure to watch your step!

After you get off, be sure to wait until the bus pulls away and look both ways before crossing the street.
