You may have heard talk around town about a new transit service on Purdue’s campus this fall. While this is true, CityBus will still be around with a few potential route changes that might impact your travel.
Leaper X, a new on-campus transit service, may replace 14 Black Loop and eliminate the airport service portion of 28 Gold Loop (Av Tech stop) in the coming months.
Soon, Leaper X and CityBus services will both run to help Purdue University students, faculty, and staff transition.
Leaper X is an on-demand ride system designed for Purdue students, faculty, and staff. It uses an app, where riders can request rides from one established stop to another or see the fixed campus bus routes. Purdue University developed Leaper X to provide access to more on-campus locations that are difficult to access using fixed-route services.
Leaper X services will primarily operate from 6 p.m. to midnight. A limited version will allow users to travel from one of approximately 50 on-campus destinations to a selection of perimeter locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the remainder of the fall 2019 semester. These stops include:
As an on-demand service, Leaper X shuttles seat 12-15 riders at a time and do not travel on a fixed route. Additionally, a Purdue email address is required to access the app.
Other than 14 Black Loop, all previous CityBus routes will be available along once full Leaper X service begins to take riders around campus, Lafayette, and West Lafayette.
Our CityBus drivers and staff have enjoyed serving you on 14 Black Loop and will provide a modified 28 Gold Loop route. We look forward to getting you where you need to go on all our routes every day. And, as always, Purdue students ride free with their IDs!
Be sure to check out CityBus route alterations for more information about 28 Gold Loop. You can even download the MyCityBus app to plan your route, set alerts for changes and updates, and more!
